Male and Female numbers

May 26th, 2009

One of the most common questions I receive is about the difference between male and female numbers:

“I have read in some books that your Nine Ki number will depend not only the year you were born but wheather you are male or female.  So according to one book my Nine ki is one number and according to another book the Nine ki is another number. ”

The answer is that the 9 Star Ki system is a Japanese system and uses the same formula for both men and women. It is the Chinese 8 Mansions system and that of Nine Flying Stars that use a different formula for women.

The reason 9 Star Ki uses the same formula for both men and women is that Japanese astrologers have noticed that since the end of WWII, women no longer adhere to the tradition roles assigned to them by patriarchal societies such as in China and Japan. And instead have challenged these traditional roles and want to forge their own identities, that for time being are more suited to expression by the male number.
